Frankenmuth Snow Carving Competition (Day 2)

Would you like fries with that???
Were back for day two of the sculpting competition. Armed with all the information we learned on day one we have re-tooled and re-focused for the last day. On day two we had from 7:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. and we needed all of it as it was a race to the finish. Today was all about the fries!!
It was an amazing two days. The learning that took place over the last two days is irreplaceable. I am already counting down till next year’s competition. A big thank you goes out to all that helped with putting this event on and allowing us to compete. Also thanks to both teams from Owosso and Hemlock for letting us borrow a few of their tools and sharing a lot of information with us.

Frankenmuth Snow Carving Competition (Day 1)

This year was the first year we here at SLHS have taken a group of students to a snow sculpting competition and man were we excited. The snow blocks were 9 feet tall by 6 feet wide and we had two days to work on the blocks. On this day we had from 8:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.. It was a long day and not only did the students learn a lot about snow carving but so did I. The students worked hard and fought through blisters and cramped hands.
Where did the day go?? Day 1 in the books.
Free Swag! Thanks Northwood University.
